Abstract The study was carried out to determine the genetic variability, correlation and path coefficient analysis of lint yield and component characters. The experimental material comprised 122 Bt cotton hybrids of various seed companies, and experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with three replications at Regional Research Station, Anand Agricultural University, Anand during kharif 2011. The genotypes showed a wide range of variability for all the characters. All the characters except boll weight showed positive and significant correlation with lint yield at genotypic and phenotypic levels. Lint yield, number of bolls per plant and number of monopodia per plant had moderate to high heritability estimates coupled with high genetic advance. It was suggested that these characters could be considered as selection criteria in improvement of lint yield of G. hirsutum.
