Abstract

India and the USA are often seen as the leading and most powerful countries in the world. Trade relations between the USA and India have been growing over the years. India hosted G20 in 2023, and the USA is a member of G20 and also one of the top traded partners of India. There arises a need to explore the horizons of trade between the two countries. The present study attempts to study the rising trade between India and the USA. In the present study, Export and Import intensity index have been used to study the bilateral trade between India and the USA during the period from 2003 to 2022. Through the paper, we attempt to unravel the intensity of bilateral trade between the two countries that could lead to bolstering greater economic and political ties between India and the USA. Through analysis of import intensity and export intensity, we conclude that the two countries possess strong trade relations with each other. As a policy recommendation, a prospective Free Trade Agreement between two nations can really be instrumental in enhancing the trade volumes between the two countries.
