Abstract

Global responses have been drawn from debilitating “Covid-19” which was unprecedented. Social, psychological and mental health were tremendously impacted. People had succumbed to loss of hope, optimism and meaning in life. Assessing the situation, this research focuses on exploring the influence of financial anxiety and meaning in life on academic self-efficacy using bivariate analysis with multiple regression. In the present research, the sample comprised of 390 participants from different streams with 120 males and 270 female aged 18 to 22 years which were recruited from Delhi-NCR. Also, the reliability was checked through Cronbach alpha whereas the convergent and discriminant validity was checked through Pearson correlation. Hence, the data was not compromised with respect to its reliability and validity as both came out to be sound and reliable. As hypothesized, results showed that financial anxiety and meaning in life showed a combined influence on academic self-efficacy, while financial anxiety influenced academic self-efficacy negatively, however, there was a “positive prediction of meaning in life on academic self-efficacy.” The theoretical and methodological implications of this work are thereby discussed in the paper which elucidates about the “ameliorating effects of meaning in life on academic self-efficacy as it also acts as a buffer against stress or financial anxiety.
