Live-in relationship: From freedom to frustration

Abstract

Live in relationship denotes an arrangement in which a man and woman live together like husband and wife with each other without any legal sanctioning to be against Indian culture and moral and ethical values. Today's couples live with each other without marriage. The reasons may vary. People are becoming more individualistic and career oriented. Married couples who choose to marry are fully cognizant of the legal obligation which arises by the operation of law on solemnization of the marriage and the rights and duties they owe to their children and the family as a whole. Unlike the care of persons entering into live-inrelationship .Live in relationship as such is a relationship which has not been socially accepted in India, unlike many other countries. This relationship also affects the children in general. As their emotional development is poorer since they have no right to child support from a partner, living together is still considered morally wrong and embarrassing The liven-in partners damage relationships with their parents and experience the withdrawl of parental and extended family support for the relationship.
