Abstract

This study focused on social adjustment among adolescents with an objective of examining the effect of intelligence, gender and personality type on social adjustment among adolescent boys and girls. It was hypothesized that intelligence, gender and personality type would affect the social adjustment of adolescents differentially. A sample of 200 adolescents (100 boys and 100 girls) was selected from different schools located in Allahabad district. The data was analyzed with descriptive statistics and the t-test.The findings of the study revealed that intelligence level and gender do not exert differential effects on social adjustment, but the personality is a significant determinant of social adjustment among adolescents. Extrovert type adolescents were found to possess better social adjustment skills than the introvert adolescents.
