Online published on 8 May, 2013. Abstract Axillary bud and shoot tips from mature female papaya plants (Carica papaya L.) var. Selection 1 initially treated with different disinfectants at different concentration and time were cultured in modified MS media, each with different hormonal combination. About 43% of shoot tips explants remained free of contamination and retained regeneration while the percentage was less (34%) in case of axillary buds. Bacterial contamination of fers a severe setback in tissue culture of explants from mature female papaya plant. Therefore, in the present work different sterilization treatments to both types of explants from mature female papaya plant.
