Abstract

A field experiment conducted at Varanasi during 1993–94 and 1994–95 revealed that full recommended dose of N application to rice (Oryza sativa L.) significantly increased the grain and nutrient uptake of succeeding lentil (Lens culinaris Medikus). Organic sources applied either alone or in combination with prilled urea increased the grain yield and nutrient uptake in rice as well as succeding lentil. Application of N through carpet waste + prilled urea in 50:50 ratio to rice resulted in the maximum grain yield and nutrient uptake in rice, while application of dhaincha green-manuring + prilled urea to rice had significant residual effect on succeeding lentil crop in terms of yield and nutrient uptake.
