Abstract

A field experiment was conducted under aegis of All-India Co-ordinated Maize Improvement Project, at Maize Research Station, Amberpet, Hyderabad, to study the effect of nitrogen levels and plant populations on the yield and quality of super sweet corn (Zea mays L.) var. ‘Madhuri’. Increment in nitrogen levels (0–120 kg (N/ha) significantly increased the number of primes, yield attributes, green ear and kernel yield and decreased the number of non-primes. Raising of plant population (53,333 to 88,888 plants/ha) increased the number of primes, non-primes, green ear and kernel yield and decreased the yield attributes. Kernel quality was significantly affected by nitrogen levels, while population densities did not alter its quality.
