Abstract

The present experiment “Assessing the variability based on nutritional and antinutritional parameters and ISSR Markers among the promising genotypes of black gram (Vigna mungo L.)” was carried out with a view to find out variability of promising genotypes on different nutritional and anti-nutritional components in a seed as well as molecular marker ISSR. Among the nutritional parameters, T-9 had the highest true protein content (26.88%), while GJU-2102 had the lowest (21%). The highest ash content was found in GU-2 (3.35%), and the lowest was found in GJU-2104 (2.16%). T-9 had the higher total sugar content of 5.38%. Results of present study showed that there is wide genetic variability among the genotypes of black gram despite being a self-pollinated crop. Molecular analysis revealed T-9 and GU-2 as the most diverse genotypes based on ISSR markers as well as dendrogram prepared from biochemical data, containing higher nutritional value and lower anti-nutritional value. These findings provide some information for selecting genotypes with desirable nutritional traits and molecular diversity.
