Abstract The area under bajra production in India has been declining over the past few decades despite its nutritional and economic value, mostly because of the lack of government assistance and the poor farmer compensation. In order to tackle the situation, the Government of India introduced the Minimum Support Price (MSP), which is the average price of agricultural products suggested by the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP). The goal of the program is to assist farmers in acquiring necessary inputs and provide a minimal profit margin for their output. The Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) and correlation analysis has been used to determine the growth rate and relationship between MSP, area under cultivation, production, and productivity of pearl millet. The Minimum Support Price (MSP) of bajra showed increasing trend while the area under cultivation showed decreasing trend. Increase in MSP increases the production which indicates a positive relationship between the MSP and production of bajra. A strong positive correlation existed between MSP and productivity of pearl millet which indicated an increase in MSP lead to increase in production.
