Effects of farmer producer organizations in empowering cardamom farmers: Special reference to Idukki district, Kerala

Abstract

To find the effects of farmer producer organizations in empowering cardamom farmers in Idukki district, kerala. Spices engage in recreation a significant role in the agricultural financial system of the country. India is known as the “domicile of spices” and Indian spices are wellknown all over the humankind for their high therapeutic value. To analyze the tendency of cardamom production in the financial year. To analyze the major factors heart-rending the initial manufacture of cardamom farming, to see the sights the challenges of production and promotion of cardamom in the study area. This study aims at identifying major factors affecting eficiency; the factors are confidential into environmental and non-environmental factors. And it is the mix of these factors the productivity at initial level is exaggerated. However, this productivity again aces a variety of challenge in order to reach the final stage of production i.e. the phase when cardamom is sellable. Particularly the Idukki district of Kerala is eminent for cardamom farming. So it is important to study the attention-grabbing factors for cardamom farming or what are positive things in Idukki district attract farmers towards cardamom farming. Their major source of income will be highly affected. Thus, the research concludes that duplicate cardamom and monophony power of Indian buyers as the cause of decreasing price of kerala cardamom. The mixture of environmental and non environmental factors (climate change, animal’s issue) have caused the decrease in productivity of kerala cardamom.
