Influence of phosphorus on growth and yield of onion (Allium cepa L.)

Abstract

75 kg. P2O5/ha was found better for maximum survival percentage of seedlings, maximum height of the plant, maximum length of he longest leaf, maximum diameter of the longest leaf, maximum diameter of pseudostem, maximum number of leaves per plant, maximum spread of the plant, minimum bolting percentage, minimum days of bulb maturity, maximum diameter of bulb, maximum vertical thickness of the blub, maximum weight per bulb and per plot, maximum number of roots per plant, maximum length of the longest root, maximum number of rings per bulb and maximum yield of bulbs q/ha in comparison to higher dose (100 kg P2O5/ha), lower dose (50 kg and 25 kg P2O5/ha) and controls.
