Abstract

Glaucoma is one of the major leading problem for irreversible blindness, therefore early detection is necessary to avoid permanent vision loss. The presence of Glaucoma can be analyzed by examining the optic disc which has the nerve fiber connecting the brain for vision. Thus optic disc analysis plays a vital role in diagnosis of Glaucoma. This paper highlights the segmentation of optic disc using Gaussian low pass filter and Circular Hough transformation techniques. Using morphological operations the optic disc with cup is further extracted and the diameter is calculated. It is then compared with the clinically accepted diameter of optic disc. The results clearly depict the presence of glaucoma disease in retinal images which can be further extended for clinical suites.
