Abstract

To find the position of the sensor nodes is one of the issue in research challenges of Wireless Sensor Networks. The existing distributed localisation techniques can be generally categorised into two types: range-based and range-free. Compared with range-based schemes, the range-free schemes are not easily affected by the environment and no additional ranging devices are needed. As a result, we focus our research on the range-free schemes. In this paper, we proposed range-free location algorithm based on orthocentre (OC) and compare with centroid algorithm. The proposed algorithm requires a normal node unknown node (UN) with a minimum of three-neighbour anchor nodes such that these three anchor nodes form a triangle and UN must be a point should inside the intersection of the three radio ranges formed by anchor nodes. The locations of UN and anchor nodes must be in the radio range of network area. The simulation results show that the relative localisation error (RLE) of OC algorithm is changed from 0.37 to 0.17 and centroid algorithm changed from 0.31 to 0.15 when increasing the radio range from 20 m to 50 m, and RLE is changed from 0.37 to 0.13 for OC and 0.31 to 0.12 for centroid when increasing the anchor nodes from 3 to 8 and also increasing error by increasing network size in two methods.
