Abstract The new millennium has brought many good things in our lives for example a boom in telecommunication and information technology (Tele Dentistry). On the other hand it has also brought new challenges of terrorism, natural disasters and a high rate of crime. Forensic dentistry has become an integral part of forensic medicine utilized in the act of criminal investigations and legal proceedings since the past 100 years. Any process that possesses the possibility of assisting the forensic field in identifying a suspect should be pursued and utilized in the act of criminal investigations and legal proceedings. One such process is uniqueness of palatal rugae which have been highly individual and consistent in shape throughout life.
