Abstract

Oral cancer is among the most common malignancies worldwide. 5- year survival rate of oral cancers is very low, which can be attributed to detecting the carcinoma in its advanced stages. Early detection of oral cancer and its precursor lesions would pave the way for better clinical outcome and better prognosis. The purpose of this article is to review the various advanced diagnostic aids for early detection of oral cancer and the potentially malignant lesions of oral cavity.
