Digital radiography-A cutting edge in the dental practice: A survey

Abstract

Objective: To compare radiographic technique used by general dental practices i.e. comparison between the use of digital radiography and conventional radiography & to determine the reasons for any difference in numbers.

Method: A survey was conducted to study the use of conventional and digital radiographic techniques among 200 general dental practitioners in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. The questionnaire was designed with precise with multiple choice answers for ease of statistical evaluation. Respondents were invited to choose only one response that best suited their clinical attitude.

Results: A total of 200 questionnaires that were sent out. The survey showed that 65.37% used conventional radiography and 35.62 used digital radiography primarily in their routine practice.

Conclusion: The dental practitioners showed favourable inclination towards digital mode of imaging as far as intraoral radiographs is concerned
