Online published on 10 February, 2015. Abstract Root perforations may occur during preparation of endodontic access cavities or during post-space preparation. The perforation creates the potential for an inflammatory reaction in the periodontal ligament. Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) has emerged as a reliable bioactive material with extended applications in endodontics. The use of biocompatible materials like MTA may improve the prognosis of teeth with furcal perforations. In this article, two cases have been discussed in the use of MTA in treating furcal perforation and subsequent long-term follow-up are described.
