Abstract The health industry has always used natural products as an alternative to the conventional allopathic formulations available for the treatment of various ailments. Herbs are novel drugs with a range of therapeutic activities gifted to the world by Ayurveda. They have potential to treat a variety of human ills with minimal or no side effects. Dentistry is still in search of drugs for diseases affecting hard and soft tissues of oral cavity with good efficacy and minimal side effects. Herbal medicines seem to fulfill most of these requirements without any adverse effect on oral tissues and at very minimal cost as compared to commercially available products today. Therefore, there is a need to conduct extensive researches to find plant based alternatives for the conventional drugs. Top Keywords Oral diseases, phytomedicines, herbs. Top |
