Online published on 6 April, 2019. Abstract Foreign bodies, detected in the pulp canals of teeth, gain access through open exposures (carious or traumatic) or canals intentionally left open to allow discharge of purulent exudate. The foreign bodies lodged in the coronal part of teeth are often visible but those within the root canals are detected only as a chance finding on radiographs. Presented are two such case reports involving an embedded stapler pin and contents of a lead pencil. A decadal review of paediatric case reports, with self-inserted foreign bodies in anterior teeth, is also presented. The article encourages awareness and prompt treatment of any carious or traumatic exposure along with recommendations to safeguard against any such incidents during endodontic treatment.
