Abstract

Any trauma or damage to the facial nerve can cause facial paralysis. In some cases, the cause is unknown or idiopathic in nature. It can also depict a serious underlying pathology. Patients suffering from this palsy feel socially embarrassed because of it's evident signs. As it is not so uncommon and affects mental well being of the patient, a thorough knowledge of it's management becomes important for physicians. Thus we review the surgical, medical and other available treatment modalities.
