Abstract Field trials were conducted for three years during kharif (2005, 2006 and 2007) at the Entomological Research Farm, College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, to find out the promising local high yielding rice cultivars/varieties resistant to rice leaf folder and effective newer molecules of insecticides for management. The varieties/cultivars viz. phouoibi, KD-5-2-8, sanaphou, RCM-9, RCM-10, tamphaphou and KD-5-3-14 recorded the higher average grain yield at higher infestation. The lowest leaf folder infested cultivar WR-11-14 gave the lowest grain yield. The synthetic chemicals viz. confidor, curacron, roket, karate and acephid were comparable with the standard check, nuvacron in terms of efficacy. The botanical, nimbecidine was also found effective.
