Online published on 3 November, 2015. Abstract Nine botanicals were evaluated for their effectiveness against Sitophilus oryzae infesting sorghum. The plant products viz., sweet flag powder, custard apple seed powder and neem seed kernel powder were the most effective. The treatments of neem leaf powder and lakke leaf powder were also found effective, while kharanja leaf powder, adsali leaf powder, tulsi leaf powder and turmeric powder were found to be least effective. All the botanicals gradually lost their effectiveness with increase in the period of grain storage. The per cent weight loss in sorghum treated with various plant products against S. oryzae could reveal that sweet flag powder, custard apple seed powder and neem seed kernel powder were the most effective.
