Abstract The insect pests of French bean studied in relation to abiotic factors and biotic factors revealed that the tobacco caterpillar, blue butterfly, hairy caterpillar and thrips appear to be the emerging pests. More than 37 species were observed to be associated with French bean crop as pests in the Jammu region. Among these, the stem fly, aphids, mites, whitefly, leaf miner, pod borer, and bean gall weevil were found to be the major pests. The correlation analyses revealed a strong influence of environmental variables such as weather parameters on population buildup of these.
