Abstract A two year (2013–14 and 2014–15) field trial was conducted to evaluate the population density and survivability of Kusmi lac insect Kerria lacca on Zizyphus mauritiana treated with basal application of different combinations of primary nutrients. The RBD format trial with four treatments (T1-N, T2-NP, T3-NPK and T4-Control) and six replications on Z mauritiana was conducted in lac grower's field of village Panwas Tolla, Block Barghat, District Seoni, Madhya Pradesh. The population density (insects/2.5cm2) of K. lacca during its different stages of growth revealed that its survival percentage at maturity of lac crop was significantly higher in nutrient managed Z. mauritiana plants over control. Survival % was highest in treatment T3 (23.52) followed by T1 (22.83), T2 (21.91) and T4 (20.47). The % increase in survivability of K. lacca at maturity of the lac crop over the control was highest (14.9) in treatment T3 followed by treatments T1 (11.53) and T2 (7.03).
