Abstract

Investigations were carried out at the Anand Agricultural Unversity, Anand during 2013 on mung bean for evaluation of botanicals as grain protectants against the pulse beetle Callosobruchus chinensis (L.) under storage. Grains treated with neem leaf powder @ 2% (w/w) recorded higher adult mortality, half-life value (58.84 days) and gross persistency (2495.0). Significantly less adult emergence (13.21) was also recorded in neem leaf powder during six months of storage. Further, none of the botanical powders affected the germination of mung bean seed.
