Abstract A laboratory experiment was conducted in the virology lab of IPFT, Gurgaon during 2015 at 25±2ºC and 70±5% RH to check the efficacy of some biopesticides (PbGV, neem formulation, SHNPV, SlNPV) along with over prescribed doses of pesticides (dicofenozole 25%EC, cypermethrin 10%EC, chlorpyriphos 20%EC) against cabbage butterfly Pieris brassicae L. The efficacy was computed in terms of highest mortality in minimum period of time, with LD50 and LT50. These revealed variations in mortality rate with insecticides, but with biopesticides, maximum mortality and higher infectivity potential were obtained with a newly identified baculovirus strain viz. PbGV. Top Keywords Cabbage butterfly, PbGV, granulovirus, biopesticides, neem, SHNPV, SlNPV, bioassay, mortality, dicofenozole, cypermethrin, chlorpyriphos. Top |
