Abstract Kerala is considered to be one of the highest quality of life in literacy level, educational and health as per the human development indicators. But this scenario is different in the case of fishing village. Low income, lack of credit, poverty, improper sanitation, and health related issues, overcrowded living conditions is evidence that the fisher folk are marginalized and neglected community. This paper mainly focuses on the socio economic conditions of women fish vendors of coastal Kerala. The role and service of women fish vendors are indispensible in the society as they provide nutritional value product to the people of Kerala. They face many socio economic problems with in the house and in the vending place. They are not getting support from the male members to run the family. Most of the women fish vendors in coastal areas are aged above 55 and taken this vending as livelihood for long years of life.
