Abstract More than 7-million people are estimated to be living with HIV-AIDS in South Africa where the new infection rate is still on the increase1. In order to curtail this disease burden, South Africa has implemented the largest ARV programme in the world8. Now as HIV positive individuals live longer, more productive lives, the challenge has become on how to manage the double burden of non-communicable diseases and HIV-AIDS7. This paper reviews the current landscape of integrated care in HIV-AIDS/NCDs programmes and proposes smart practices toward optimal patient management.
