Online published on 17 July, 2019. Abstract The death due to suicide are highly incidental in the morden way of life. The present study was conducted in Department of Forensic Medicine, Madurai Medical College, Madurai during January 2014 to December 2014 to find out the various patterns of ligature and the neck injuries during the autopsy examinations in deaths due to hanging. Total 210 cases of autopsy were studied irrespective of age, gender, religion, casteetc., who has died due to hanging. All the data is related to ligature pattern, internal injuries in neck, marital status etc are recorded with detailed autopsy examination subsequently analysed statistically. We conclude that majority of victims were male of 21–30 years age involved in hanging, due to love, financial factor, work related issues and other motivational factors.
