Abstract In recent years, diabetes has emerged as a major healthcare problem in India. It has several complications and comorbid mental health problems which influence the management of its condition. Self-efficacy of people with diabetes has been found to be a significant predictor of overall self-management among such people. It is not only found as the important possible mediator in health behaviour, but also important in disease prevention, ensuring treatment adherence and in the prediction of patient reaction to illness. In view of the above present study was conducted on a sample of 100 people with type 2 diabetes with age range of 40 to 60 years purposively drawn from Department of Endocrinology, Sir Sundarlal hospital, BHU, Varanasi, with due reference to the concerned authority. The participants were administered the self-efficacy scale and Diabetes Self management Questionnaire (DSMQ). Results revealed that self-efficacy correlates significantly and positively with self-management. Top Keywords Self-efficacy, self-management, diabetes, mental health. Top |
