Gender, Emotional Intelligence and Adjustment among Adolescents Chaudhary O. P. Associate Professor and Head, Department of Psychology, Shri Agrasen Kanya P.G. College, Varanasi-221003 Online published on 24 October, 2018. Abstract Emotions play an important role in human lives. In psychology, emotional intelligence and adjustment is the behavioural process of balancing conflicting needs, or needs against obstacles in the environment. The major objective of the present study was to assess and compare the emotional intelligence and adjustment of adolescents. 100 adolescents (50 boys and 50 girls) within the age range of 13–19 years with mean age of 16.03 years were selected for the present study. Multidimensional Self Report Emotional Intelligence Scale (MSREIS-R) and Adjustment Inventory were administered on the subjects one by one at a time. Result reveals that there is significant difference between ability to express and appraise emotions, ability to utilize emotions dimension of emotional intelligence, overall emotional intelligence and adjustment of adolescents. Further result reveals that there is significant relationship between emotional intelligence and adjustment for boys and girls. Top Keywords Emotional Intelligence, Adjustment and Gender. Top | |
