Abstract

In now a days there have been increasing interest in the concept of Religion & Psycho-spirituality. The concept is usually invoked rather than examined and analyzed. The spectrum varies from theology and philosophy through social science-Psychology. It has many roots and branches which move at in the diversified direction. Psychology and religion both have things to say to each other that are mutually appreciative. Psychology offers the religion the sources of social science to explore the accuracy of self understanding to achieve to desired goals and religion offers psychology a vast store of accumulated wisdom and how to lead healthy and meaningful life. In this study the concept of religion has been analyzed from the perspectives of Freud and Kakar. Freud has focused on cognitive, emotional and relationship. Sudhir Kakar had defined the concept and worked on cultural psychic to creativity. According to him all behavior are determined by latent (hidden causation) and lead to religiosity with the principles of gratification and pleasures stemmed from the unconscious. His approach to psychoanalysis and religion applies the link between psychoanalysis and eastern cultural thought. At the end through the exploring and analyzing the concept of religion from the psychoanalytical viewpoint of Freud and Kakar it can be said that ‘The miracle of the forest, nothing that is said in its midst is lost…..outside the voice of the forest is drowned out by chattering and lamentations of those who traffic in their future and in anxiety their own and that of others’.
