Abstract This study analyzed the trend in authorship patterns and collaborative research in the field of gravity with a sample of 122,133 research papers indexed in the Web of Science database. The study reveals that although multiple authorship is dominant, solo research also exists. The proportion of single-authored papers has shown a declining trend during the period 2000-2019. The collaboration index and the number of authored papers with two or more authors has been has been rising during the study period. Scientists who are working in gravity research prefer collaborative work. The average author per paper and average paper per author during the study period is 3.91 and 0.26 respectively.
