Online published on 16 May, 2017. Abstract In an Internet era, plagiarism is becoming a very serious issue and it is to be considered as an Ethical Dilemma in Academia. Various types of plagiarism are found in many research works and it is either practiced intentionally or unintentionally. The article throws light on its overview consisting of need of Anti-plagiarism software, types of Plagiarism, preventive measures to avoid plagiarism, Do's and Don'ts to avoid plagiarism with related issues and perspectives. A statistical analysis of the use of Turn it in done by faculty members of Shivaji University, Kolhapur (SUK) is also provided to determine how its use statistics can be considered asa yardstick for measuring the quality of the research.
