Approach of B. Ed. Students towards use of ICT and Web Resources: A Survey of Teacher Training Colleges of Bandipora District-J & K (India)

Abstract

We are living in ‘Information Communication Technology (ICT) era’ where each and every sector of our life is being affected and revolutionized by ICT. It has got significant implications on education and research as well. With every passing day, new inventions and discoveries are being made in education sector and with internet we can access them in real time, we can communicate which can have real time communication with educationists sitting thousands of miles away. We can have better access to the latest and psychological tools and techniques about learner behavior, educational tools and techniques and to the competitive and job oriented examinations at various levels. Students can enjoy the facilities like chat rooms, live videos, conferencing, and real time conversation with the subject specialists all over the globe with the help of internet and www. Being the future nation builders, B. Ed students are of prime importance to a nation, therefore we carried out a study in colleges of education of Bandipora district, Jammu and Kashmir, with the objective of assessing the pattern of computer and internet use among the B. Ed students. An attempt has been made to determine the awareness of computer and use of different electronic information resources by the B. Ed. students in the colleges under study. It was observed that use of computers and digital resources of information is not sufficient as most of the students are not trained enough for the use of such resources in the colleges of education in Jammu and Kashmir.
