Abstract A bibliography record of oncology research output in India for the period, 2005–2015 covering 10298 research itemswas evaluated to test the applicability of Lotka's law and author productivity distribution patterns. Data was collected from Web of Science database. The analysis was performed using Histcite software, which calculated the total number of authors and analyzed their research papers. A simple theory Lotka's law summarizes the logarithmic relation between researchers and publication quantities. The total number of contributors were 21443 and oncology research output conformed particularly well to Lotka's law with C = 0.618.
