Abstract The paper examines 2892 Indian publications on semantic web research, as covered in scopus database during 2007–16 using various quantitative and qualitative parameters. India experiences an annual average growth rate of 26.37% and qualitative citation impact averaged to 3.83 citations per paper. India's share of international collaborative papers (ICP) was 13.52% which decreased from 15.08% to 12.89% between 2007–11 and 2012–16. The top 10 most productive countries individually contributed global share from 3.02% to 18.23%, with largest global publication share coming from the USA (18.23%), followedby China (14.66%), etc. Together, the 10 most productive countries accounted for 75.82% share of global publications. The top 10 most productive research organizations and authors collectively contributed 24.97% and 7.09% as their global publication share and 23.91% and 7.51% respectively as their global citation share during study.
