Online published on 25 May, 2023. Abstract Potato is ranked fourth import crop in India, grown so extensively on pan-India scale. In recent years, there has been a growing interest developing diagnostic techniques that can be easily used by untrained staff for identifying potato pathogens. The development of innovative diagnostic technologies such as hyperspectral imaging, spectroscopy, artificial intelligence, biosensors, and CRISPR-Cas-based detection systems holds great promise for improving the quality of potato seed production. These technologies provide fast, sensitive, and accurate tools to identify and quantify plant pathogens, physiological disorders, and defects in potato seeds. Early detection and prevention of diseases and defects can have a significant impact on the agricultural industry by increasing yields, improving crop quality, and reducing the spread of diseases. As these technologies continue to evolve, they will play an essential role in the development of more effective control strategies for plant pathogens, improving seed production processes, and ultimately enhancing food security. All these pros and cons have been systematically discussed in present review. Top Keywords Potato, Diseases, Diagnostics, Seed. Top |
