Talent Retention: A Strategic Challenge for Indian Software Industries.

Abstract

The software company being one among the quickest growing industries within the country plays a very crucial role in the Indian economy. Retention and motivation of talent personnel are major HR concerns today. Software Professionals are highly qualified and very high levels of expectations and aspiration. To meet their expectations & managing the high aspirations is a big challenge in front of software industries. Attracting & retaining high-potential employees is critical for today's competitive business environment. The impact of attrition on a business can be unfavorable to both the outcome and morale. Attrition can involve the loss of expertise and the loss of business opportunities. Retaining employees involves understanding the intrinsic motivators of them which many organizations unable to identify. Identifying motivation & satisfaction factors for software professionals, high attrition is as a result of great importance in increase employee retention. This research explores the challenges of retaining employees, reasons behind resignation of the employees, impact on organizational & individual development& retention strategies A market survey was done of 200 software professionals from various software Industries at Pune & nearby Pune. Convenience sampling method was used for selection of the professionals. The data was analyzed by using frequency distribution. Dissatisfaction of pay & lack of career opportunities are the main reasons behind the resigning of the job
