Comparative study on the performance of employees of scheduled commercial banks in India

Abstract

Employees are the greatest asset for each and every organization. Employee's satisfaction comes first before customer satisfaction. If you satisfied your employees then your customers will definitely be satisfied. As far as commercial banks are concerned, our whole economy depends on this system. And every bank needs personnel for its working. In present research paper, we will focus towards the performance of employees of scheduled commercial banks (SCB's) in India. Four categories of banks will be made like State bank of India and its Associates, other Nationalized banks, Private banks and Foreign banks. Data will include number of employees, profit and ratio of wage bills to total expenses of scheduled commercial banks. With the help of available data we will calculate growth rate in profit per employee and ratio of wage bills to total expense and then we will calculate correlation between profit or loss per employee and ratio of wage bills to total expense with the help of growth rate. Data of last ten years i.e. from March 2006 to March 2015 (taking March 2005 as a base year) will be taken into account from the website of Reserve bank of India. The result shows that foreign banks are leading as compare to other banks in all years with highest profit per employee and only private banks are showing positive correlation while other categories are showing negative correlation.
