Abstract There have been rising instances of gullible investors getting cheated by fraudulent investment schemes that mostly offer high returns within a short period of time. Investors while investing their hard core money in investing avenues needs to be alert and stay away from “Bogus” investment avenues. But the question arise how to identify these avenues. This article is a recognition way of identifying Ponzi schemes so called “Bogus” investment avenues around us which are promising very high in the short period of time. It covers an overview about the functioning and Indian context scenario of ponzi schemes. Further some remedies to overcome from this fraud for public at large are suggested.
