Abstract

A field experiment was conducted for two years at farmer's field during 2014–15 on Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill), in root-knot infested nursery by incorporating MCW-2 and UPI-210 (@ 2g/m2 and 4g/m2) in soil, either in line or as a broadcast, at the time of sowing. MCW-2 and UPI-210 @ 2g/m2 and 4g/m2 when applied in line were found significantly superior over untreated control increasing seedling weight (118.21, 134.83 and 126.52 g). The seedling weight in treatments were 15.89, 21.11 and 18.61 per cent higher over control, reducing RKI at transplant and at harvest viz., (2.44, 2.89, 2.67 and 2.80, 3.23, 3.02, respectively) which was significantly 35.78, 34.76, 35.19 and 31.70, 32.29, 31.83 per cent lower than control and significantly increasing yield of tomato (224.48, 201.04 and 212.76 q/ha) which was 49.65, 78.70 and 62.10 per cent superior over control and reducing final nematode population (13289, 10468 and 11879) which was 56.37, 44.37 and 51.78 per cent lower over control. Among chemicals, MCW-2 added in nursery was the best with higher tomato yield 241.67, 217.71 and 229.69 q/ha yield which was 16.58, 18.08 and 17.29 per cent significantly greater than the UPI-210 respectively. In all, the best treatment combination was in line application of MCW-2 at 4g/m2 incorporated to nursery soil at the time of sowing. This combination resulted in excellent seedling weight (126.00, 144.35 and 135.18 g), increased yield (250.00, 225.00 and 237.50 q/ha) and reduction in final nematode population (8952, 8233 and 8593).
