Abstract Lichen planus is long standing disease, which can affect the mouth and sometimes other areas of body. When it appears in oral cavity it is called oral lichen planus. Oral lichen planus affects 1–2 per cent of the general adult population and is the most common non-infectious oral mucosal disease.
