Effect of physical education training programme on neuropsychological variables

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Physical Education Training Programme on Neuropsychological variables. One hundred male college students from different B.P. Ed. Training Colleges of West Bengal whose age ranged between 22 to 27 years were randomly selectedas subject for this study. Short Term Memory, Long Term Memory, Tactile Sensitivity and Visual Illusion were easlired for this study. Short Term and Long Term Memory scale, esthesiometer and Muller Lyer illusion tests respectively were used o measure the Neuropsychological variables of this study. The hysical Education Training programme was the schedule Undertaken by B.P. Ed Trainees for acquiring bachelor of physical education Degree in their respective colleges for five days in a wee divided into two sessions; one was in the morning and the other in th evening with duration offorty five minutes respectively fora period 0 twelve weeks. The initial Data ofthe selected Neuropsychological variables i, e, Short term and Long Term Memory scale, Aesthesiometer and Muller LyeI ’illusion tests respectively were taken on the B.P. Ed students at the very beginning after admitted for the said coursefrom 1st July. Further they were engage for the Physical educat; on Training Programme assigned to them. Paired t ’test was applied to investigate the existence ofsignificant difference between pre and post test phases due to the effect oftwelve weeks Physical Education Training Programme on Neuropsychological variables. In conclusion improvement was found after twelve weeks training programme and the difference was statistically significant, Exercise not only gives health life style but also improve YOllr neuropsychological variables so exercise is strongly recommended.
