A comparative study of self concept and intensitive motivation among the sports women participating in hockey and football games

Abstract

The purpose of the present study was to compare the Self-concept and Intensitive Motivation among the Sportswomen participating in Hockey and Football Games. In this research paper Self Concept has been presented. This was a survey study under Descriptive research. For the present study, 120 female subjects were selected purposively from the colleges of Gondwana University, in which 60 players were from Hockey and 60 players were from Football Game. The questionnaire constructed and standardized by Dr. Raj Kumar Saraswat was used for administering Self-concept. The Self-concept dimensions measured by this inventory are: Physical, Social, Temperamental, Educational, Moral and Intellectual. Self-concept of Hockey players and Football players was compared by using t-test and the result were analyzed and interpretations were drawn. It was observed from the finding that the Self-concept of Hockey players and Football players, that significant differences were found between Hockey players and Football players in all Dimension of Self-concept i.e., Physical, Social, Temperamental, Educational, Moral and Intellectual. The mean scores of Self-concept dimensions like Physical, Social, Temperamental and Moral shows that Football players have high degree of Self-concept than Hockey players. While the mean scores of Self-concept dimension like educational and intellectual shows that Hockey players have high degree of Self-concept than Football players. Finally researcher concluded that the self-concept of Hockey players and Football players is not similar.
