A comparative study on social maturity of physical education and non physical education students

Abstract

There are different sorts of maturity, but we could talk about social maturity. This sort of maturity has to do with how well people understand the nature of the social world they live within. Social maturity is what enables us to function as healthy adults. Without it, we end up having a difficult time ourselves, or causing a lot of difficult times for other people. A high degree of social maturity has something to do with a high degree of social skill. So our education system today needs to focus on creating a cohesive society: A society believes in mutual trust, tolerance, fellow feelings. As they grow they learn to develop the skill adjustment with environment with the help of their constant interaction and exposure, it provides the child new learning experiences to face the challenges of life. Out of these challenges the challenge of adapting with social setting is most important for complete personality development in one hand and social maturity on the other. The present study deals with social maturity of students of Physical Education and non Physical Education. To measure the level of social maturity the Vineland social maturity scale (V.S.M.S.) was used. Through this work it was tried to chalk out the role of physical education program on the student and how much it would be helpful to make them more social maturity.
