Factors Associated with Knowledge, Attitude and Behavior of Condom Use among Women Living with HIV AIDS

Abstract

Introduction

The transmission of HIV is likely in women lacking information related to the transmission of a husband's unwillingness to use a condom when having sex. The focus of this study is to understand the knowledge, attitude and behavior in condom use as a way to prevent the transmission of HIV.

Method

This research used cross-sectional research. The population in this study was 60 married housewives aged between 17 and 49 years. Samples were taken by purposive sampling according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were analyzed by using correlation and logistic regression with a significance level of p <0.05.

Results

The results showed their knowledge, attitude, and behavior regarding the use of a condom. The focus of this study is to understand the knowledge, attitude and behavior in condom use as a way to prevent the transmission of HIV; for knowledge r = 0.280; attitude r = 1.000 and behavior r = 0.420. Women living with HIV/AIDS (WLHA) who had good knowledge, attitude, and behavior, impacted on condom use as a prevention effort against HIV/AIDS.

Discussion and Conclusion

From this study, we can conclude that the knowledge, attitude, and behavior had an impact of the use of condoms in women as a precaution against transmission of HIV/AIDS.
