Online published on 23 December, 2019. Abstract Medical image processing techniques are utilized to obtain easier and faster abnormalities diagnosis. In this work two proposed techniques are presented to detect and extract lung abnormalities in four CT scan images. Enhancement contrast based technique and mean shift clustering methods were implemented with aid of many morphological operations. The results indicate that the proposed techniques have good performance and were in good agreement with the radiologist delineation. The percent relative differences were ranged from 0 to 7.2% for the first method and ranged from 1.9 to 7.2% for the second method.
