Online published on 31 March, 2020. Abstract Periodontal disease and Diabetes Mellitus are two chronic diseases that share a cause and effect relationship with each other. Various studies have found a positive relationship between both of them. Not only the disease progression has negative effect on each other but even the control of the disease and its treatment also causes substantial improvement in the overall disease condition. Hence, it is very important for both the physician and the dentist to understand the relation between periodontitis and diabetes mellitus for overall appraisal of the patients.
